ALMU members visited the Model Factory at the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC), a centre of excellence for advanced manufacturing and remanufacturing technologies, on 27 November 2019, followed by a visit to Clearpack Singapore Pte Ltd.
A model of a factory of the future, the Model Factory @ ARTC is part of A*STAR’s Model Factories Initiative to support the industry in their digital transformation journey. The Model Factory @ ARTC focuses on disruptive technologies, primarily Industry 4.0 technologies, that can transform factories and industrial operations to be more efficient and competitive. It offers a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility equipped with industrial machines and digital systems through an initial partnership of more than 20 industry and public sector research partners. Perhaps the highlight of the tour was the multi-tasking robots on the factory floor.
At ARTC, ALMU members also had a roundtable dialogue with Enterprise Singapore’s (ESG) Development Partner, Yue Kit Chong, to explore ESG funding opportunities. Yue explained that the agency can fund up to 70% of a locally-based company’s digitalisation project. Overseas members also can tap into the agency’s knowledge base and expert resources. Yue welcomed the opportunity to assist ALMU members with their digitalisation journey. ALMU members who are interested in contacting Yue can coordinate with our ALMU secretariat.
The visit to system integrator Clearpack allowed ALMU members to explore how they can automate their filling and packaging lines. Tejinder Singh Bhogal, Country Manager of Clearpack Singapore Pte. Ltd., explained to ALMU members how they can improve the efficiency of their production lines with the data being collected and reports that can be generated with digitalisation.
